What Does Mobilizing for Sustainable Development Actually Mean?

Discover How Enerfip Commits to Sustainable Development Through Responsible Investment Projects and CSR Initiatives

What Are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

Did you know?
It was Gro Harlem Brundtland, the former Prime Minister of Norway, who in 1987 conceptualized sustainable development as a framework for thinking about the Earth and initiatives addressing climate change and social inequalities.

To contextualize the 17 SDGs, let’s first look at sustainable development more broadly. INSEE (the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies), paraphrasing Gro Harlem Brundtland, defines it today as:

“development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

The UN Global Compact

So, sustainable development—check! Now, what about the UN Global Compact?
This European initiative aligns with sustainable development goals and aims to support companies in transitioning to a more responsible model. To do so, it has established 10 principles related to human rights, international labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption.

Environmental principles are numbers 7, 8, and 9, concerning:

  1. A precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
  2. Initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility;
  3. The development and dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies.

In short, the UN Global Compact sets the ambitions for over 10,000 companies and stakeholders across 162 countries, encouraging organizations to implement carbon strategies aligned with the SDGs. Since 2015, the SDGs, as part of the 2030 Agenda, provide a roadmap for balancing economic progress, environmental protection, and social well-being. They address many areas, including world peace, human welfare, planetary preservation, solidarity, growth, and prosperity.

Did you know?
The 2030 Agenda is a universal program for sustainable development, aiming to eradicate poverty and inequality worldwide.

CSR: A Core Pillar of Enerfip

The European Commission defines CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) as:

“a concept whereby companies voluntarily integrate social and environmental concerns into their business operations and interactions with stakeholders.”

In other words, CSR is how companies contribute to sustainable development.

At Enerfip, CSR is fundamental and at the heart of our strategy. It has become a priority, integrated across our operations and decision-making processes, allowing everyone to contribute to a positive human and environmental impact.

For over two years, a CSR Committee has met monthly to propose new initiatives, support existing ones, and amplify employee-led actions. Its goal is to give visibility to actions that often remained isolated or unnoticed.

Committed to transparency and consistency, we also publish a detailed impact report, measuring our results and tracking our contribution to the SDGs.

European Sustainable Development Week at Enerfip

Creating highlight events around European initiatives allows us to unite our investors and employees around values we care about.

From September 18 to October 8, we offered an external page full of tips, resources, and concrete solutions to understand, act, and finance the energy transition. Each day included an online quiz to test your knowledge of ecology and green finance.

Internally, employees participated in small missions and actions: clothing swap, vegetarian lunch, elevator-free day, sustainable happy hour, etc. These initiatives promote eco-responsible habits in a friendly and participatory atmosphere, showing that ecological transition starts with small, accessible changes.

At Enerfip, the future is a collective project!
We believe it is essential that citizens participate in the energy transition at their own scale. That’s why we develop accessible, transparent investment solutions aligned with current and future climate and societal challenges.
