70% of French people have already heard of crowdfunding. The term crowdfunding is much less well-known (36%), with only those under 34 clearly standing out in the definition of the latter. Regarding awareness of crowdfunding, the survey does not reveal any significant geographical disparities.
Another notable fact is that crowdfunding appears to be an innovative financing method for 85% of French people. It is also considered a real opportunity to discover projects (80%), but also an accessible and transparent financing method, respectively for 70% and 60% of respondents.
Choosing where your money goes
The survey also highlights the motivations of the French. Among them, the desire to get involved locally stands out. The French want to direct their money towards concrete projects, capable of transforming daily life. They want to regain control and know what their savings are being used for. It should be noted that investment diversification is not, in itself, one of the reasons put forward by those surveyed.
However, these motivations encounter personal obstacles such as the fear of losing their money for 66% of French people, while 63% cite a lack of savings or insufficient tax incentives.
A promising future
While 16% of French people have already contributed to a project on a crowdfunding platform, the three-quarters who have not yet used this financing method consider it "interesting." The majority are workers, executives, or farmers. As for the outlook, it is very favorable, with 38% of respondents planning to personally participate in financing a project on a platform in the next twelve months.
On this last point, no field of action is excluded, even if humanitarian aid, the environment, culture, health, and scientific research come out on top.
